Social studies submission 2

PLG : Geography

I am learning about how to read maps. a map is a picture or a drawing of a place. there can be a map of the whole world, a map of a continent, a map of a city, even a map of a place like a zoo! maps help you find your way around somewhere. some maps use symbols and a map key tells you what the symbols mean. a map key is also called a legend. That reminds me of the legend of Zelda, one of my favorite games. another thing you might find on a map is a compass rose, which will show you which way north is pointing on the map. a map can help you find your way and make it so you don't get lost. when my mom is driving she lets me be the navigator and look at the map on her phone so we know when to turn and don't get lost very easily. maps are very helpful.

Math submission 2

PLG : Patterns

I am learning about patterns. A pattern in a unit that repeats itself over and over and over. You can make patterns with colors or you can make patterns with shapes. You can also make patterns with movements as long as they repeat themselves.

Science submission 1

PLG : Physical Science

For my science studies i at looked crystals. my favorite specimen was called fluorite
Fluorite is a relatively soft mineral found throughout the world. It’s my favorite because it looks pretty. It’s light a green glowing rock and it looks almost like a little chunky emerald. When I was learning about crystals I learned that crystals form in 3D shapes. The actual word crystal come from the Greek word krysos and it means “ice cold”. People used to think that crystals were a type of ice that were so cold that they could never melt.

Social studies submission 1

PLG : History

I learned about Ruby Bridges and she was born in Mississippi and moved to Louisiana when she was four years old. There were things that people with black skin couldn’t do, like go into schools that said white people only, even restaurants and even drinking fountains and lots of other things. I feel like that feels silly. Who even made that up?

The teachers at the black school gave their students a test to see if they should or shouldn’t go to white schools and the test was hard for Ruby but she did well on the test. There were angry protestors that didn’t want Ruby to come to white schools. But they had people protecting Ruby when she walked to school. Every student and the parents and teachers walked away from the white school just because Ruby came to their school. But there was one teacher that wanted to teach Ruby, her name was Mrs. Henry. That’s also my brothers name.

Rubys father lost his job and her grandparents lost their farmland just because they were standing up for their rights. That just sounds so silly and makes me feel upset. I don’t know what I would do if I had to live a life like that.

Ruby and her Family did not give up. And Ruby encouraged many people  and even Eleanor Roosevelt wrote a letter to her. More white people and even black people came back to school and integrated. I think that was a pretty good thing that happened. The end.

Math submission 1

PLG : Shapes

today I did BrainPOP jr. And it taught me about congruent and incongruent shapes... And the test was really easy. So congruent is something that is the same shape, same size, and the same length.

If you put two congruent shapes on top of eachother the one on top will completely cover the bottom one.if the shapes are incongruent then they do not cover eachother perfectly.😀😀😀

Language arts 16

I am working on my language arts curriculum and am practicing homophones and poetry. My poem is a little bit silly though
